Job Title: Senior Engineer - IT Systems (Architecture)

Location: Portsmouth, Weymouth, Filton, Frimley and Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: circa £50,000 dependant on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Understanding customers' needs: analysing, preparing and communicating these through the use of architectural methodologies
  • Developing complex system architectures and providing evidence of fitness for purpose
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risk within a large scale, long duration programme
  • Developing and refining: Size, Weight, Heat and Power estimates for future Common Infrastructure systems to support submarine design and build activities
  • Collaboratively engaging stakeholders to identify lesson learnt and opportunities for the transfer of best practice
  • Taking accountability for technical work packages

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proven aptitude of applying engineering expertise to effectively solve problems within the context of unfamiliar systems, or environments
  • Ability to effectively work in a complex, multi-disciplinary programme

Desirable:

  • Experience in System Architecture definition and development using frameworks such as: MoDAF, TOGAF, SOSAF, etc
  • Experience with MBSE tools sets (Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, Cameo, etc.)
  • Degree level qualification in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science) or equivalent industry / armed forces experience

The Systems Infrastructure team:

You will be undertaking a role within the Future Submarines Combat Systems team, specifically 'Common Infrastructure'. The Common Infrastructure sub-system provides the hardware and software infrastructure (including processing, networking and storage), to support a range of Combat Systems applications, functions and equipment.
