We are searching for an Electrical Development Engineer for an exciting Research and Development team based out of East Devon. Reporting to the Electric Product Development Manager you will work on multiple projects both short and long term, contributing ideas across multiple disciplines.You will assist with building prototypes, leading development activities and projects whilst working with other departments. You will be taking projects from concept to production.You will also be responsible for taking products through test and certification, using third-party labs and feedback to influence new developments.This role is ideal for someone with a broad technical skillset and it offers a nice balance of hands-on practical work with project management and coordination.To be considered for this role you require a mixture of the following experience: - Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, and either a professional or personal interest in these is essential.Experience of project management and product development (small/mid-scale).Proven ability to interpret technical information such as industry standards and propose appropriate action in order to ensure those standards or technical requirements are met.Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.Be proficient with basic tools and workshop facilities.Ability to work under their own initiative and pro-actively plan is essential, as is the ability to work within tight timescales.Understanding of the use of correct materials/components in the development process is desirable as is a background in appropriate methods of fabrication and design for manufacture or assembly.Confident communicator with ability to liaise with external parties and deliver as per specification.Specific knowledge and experience with fault diagnostics, servicing, electrical safety and EMC/EMI concepts is very beneficial but is NOT essential.Awareness of relevant British and European standards applicable to domestic electric heating products would be a real advantage but is NOT essential.Be Microsoft Office competent.Have a passion for learning and self-development.Have the ability to understand and work to task-specific risk assessments and COSHH/MSDS Datasheets. Key Responsibilities: - Develop new 'effects' for future product ranges in conjunction with Software and Creative Engineers.Lead own development projects taking design into production.Keep detailed records for documentation.Build prototype products, test jigs and other relevant hardware to support the R&D department.Follow relevant industry standards and update appropriate departments with changes.Manage testing for safety and performance for both product development and pre compliance.Liaise with Production Engineering to implement correct production test procedures for new products.
