What to expect

Based at Land Rover's home of production which produces the F-PACE, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar. Jaguar Land Rover and searching for a STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) Programme Engineer to work on our Special Vehicle Operations.

The purpose of this role is to effectively communicate the capacity and quality performance of new product suppliers to Special Operations. It plays an important role within the Special Vehicles and Vehicle Personalisation Purchasing and Programmes Departments.

The role supports the planning, monitoring, and controlling of supplier programme readiness throughout the Jaguar Land Rover Product Creation and Delivery Process. It provides key inputs to Sourcing, APQP Planning and status review, High Impact selection, Programme Builds, and Assembly Plant Launch support. The role acts as the primary interface with Site STA, bridging the gap between Purchasing, Programmes, and suppliers.

As STA Programme Engineer, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and supplier representatives to ensure JLR requirements are fulfilled. This involves engaging with supplier representatives regarding supplier quality and supply issues, as well as working with STA site teams and purchasing to address concerns related to quality and delivery performance, leveraging supplier resources to meet business demands.

Overall, the role aims to support the STA vision of driving manufacturing excellence into the JLR supply base for components. It involves a combination of tactical and strategic purchasing activities.

In this role you will also:

Create a Master Program Tracker.

Coordinate STA Sourcing support.

Lead the process of identifying and communicating priority suppliers for Part Selection.

Establish the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) level for high impact parts.

Coordinate supplier quality and delivery readiness metrics, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

Receive and review APQP and Corrective Action Plans.

Participate in various meetings such as PST (Product Status Team), PMST (Programme Management Support Team), Cross-Functional meetings, and Programme Strategy meetings as necessary.

Develop and maintain sufficiency plans (WCPA - Weekly Critical Path Analysis / FTT - Fit, Trim, Test).

Prepare weekly status reports for LMM (Launch Management Meeting), APQP, Phased-PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) PSW (Part Submission Warrant) readiness, and risk assessment of non-PSW into Launch Phases.

Support the build process and drive the resolution of supplier-related issues through eACT (electronic Corrective Action Tracking), IQM (Issue and Query Management), and AIMS2 (Automated Issue Management System).

Request STA support at supplier sites for Launch issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential:

A passion for quality and attention to detail, with an analytical mindset

Experience within a Vehicle Engineering/Quality function and familiarity with the Global Product Development System

Knowledge and experience of:

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Part Submission Warrant (PSW)

Able to facilitate the resolution of complex cross-functional issues

Sound knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques

Good leadership/negotiation/communication & interpersonal skills

Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation.

Self-motivated & able to work on their own initiative.
