WHAT TO EXPECT

Reporting to the Global Commodity Leader, you will have Global responsibility for specific commodities within exterior systems on behalf of Jaguar Land Rover. You will be expected to utilise your experience to analyse, define, and implement market and sourcing strategies for your designated commodities. You will lead the Global sourcing activity through the Global Sourcing Process (GSP) up to contract award (SCPA). As well as this, you will be responsible for both Global Strategy and Sourcing activity will be supported by the Regional Delivery teams for your commodities, utilising regional market intelligence and expertise.

 

As a Global Strategy Buyer, you will lead the development of the supplier and internal stakeholder relationships to ensure strategic and programme alignment. As well as this, you will manage suppliers within your designated commodities and will be responsible for Supplier Business Reviews ensuring that the Global Commodity Strategy and Supply Base Market strategy is effectively deployed throughout all of Jaguar Land Rover and the external supply chain.

 

This role is a pivotal role for interface with other key functions within Jaguar Land Rover and acts as a core conduit for true cross functional working across Production Purchasing, MP&L, STA, Product Engineering, Cost Engineering and Manufacturing.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

You will need support and will work closely with the Regional Delivery teams and engage with specialists within the Purchasing Function. This is required to ensure optimum value creation and delivery for Jaguar Land Rover, as well as leading stakeholder relationships and ensuring Jaguar Land Rover is appropriately represented both internally and externally.

The duties in the headings below include, but are not limited to:

Strategy & Sourcing:

Act as the voice of the customer for input into the Strategic Commodity Dossiers (SCD), Commodity Business Plans (CBP) and Strategic Supplier Dossiers (SSD), and ensure relevant data is updated & understood

Responsible for the execution of commodity and supplier strategy, and the effective operational relationships with each of designated suppliers in region, ensuring that they follow the commodity strategy that delivers improved purchase operational performance

Support the Strategic Analyst, by ensuring regional analytics on suppliers, market and business requirements is available

Be responsible for issue and analysis of RFQs in Region, and liaison with suppliers to ensure sourcing in line with policy and to agreed targets through GSP and deploying TCO & TVO approach

Provide input to GSP SBR meetings to ensure design decisions are made based on an accurate analysis of supply chain, product cost drivers and regional inputs

Conduct supplier negotiations in Region pre SCPA in support of Global Commodity Leader

Cost Management:

Manage all new Model Programme introduction of designated commodity/system, including contracted supplier obligations, production readiness and resolution of any commercial and/or programme issues/risks,  being responsible for robust delivery to target cost

Ensuring effective cost management of designated commodities and supplier post SCPA which will involve launching commodities on new products at their target cost as well as achieving year on year cost reduction on current spend to deliver NCR to target

Investigate and ensure resolution of in-contract commercial issues including unverified invoices relating to price queries, annual cost reduction, tooling costs, design changes and all liability claims, to minimise the costs to Jaguar Land Rover

Supplier Relationship Management:

Participate in Supplier Business Reviews with your suppliers to develop supplier relationships in accordance with the supplier segmentation model

Support Regional stakeholder engagement and internal relationship management, and act as the primary interface with Product Engineering Module Leaders/Senior Managers for designated commodities/systems, to ensure cross-functional alignment on quality, cost, delivery and time requirements post SCPA

Support the Global Commodity Leaders, to develop the supplier relationships globally for your designated commodities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 Essential:

Delivering complex supply chain solutions in a fast paced, high pressured manufacturing environment

Ability to work independently, results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment.

Implementing and delivering purchasing strategies with the focus on total value chain delivery

Identify opportunities for creating value in a commodity or commodities

A good communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders to influence cross-functional engagement

Desirable:

An individual with a proven track record in delivering results in both favourable and unfavourable conditions

The ability to challenge in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
