Where does the role sit?

We're looking to recruit a Scrum Master Chapter Lead (SMCL) to work in our New Payments Architecture (NPA) Lab, delivering the biggest change that Payments has seen this decade. NPA is a regulatory initiative that will change UK payments as we know them. Our NPA Lab sits in our Payment Services Platform (PSP), where our mission is to provide compliant and efficient payments capabilities for the Group and drive innovation to enable customers to move money confidently, quickly and securely.

Working closely with Industry, the NPA team is replacing the complexity of the existing payments landscape with a new, more efficient infrastructure that will benefit from enhanced security and resilience. This multi-million-pound initiative has a new partnership with a leading FinTech company and is looking for people who are interested in working with exciting, innovative new technologies, such as Cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS).

 

You'll play a pivotal role in realising our digital and data potential and crafting the Bank of the Future...Here's what we'll need from you:

The Scrum Master Chapter Lead operates at Lab level and is a change agent with a passion for working with people and teams to help them reach their best and deliver their best for customers and the bank.

We encourage the lab's understanding of Agile frameworks, Transformation Principles and Practices (TP&Ps), and support them to establish their ways of working, self-manage and continuously improve in delivering change and value safely.

Here's how you'll make a difference:

Support NPA lab to understand and utilise Agile frameworks (Scaling, Scrum, Kanban etc) and events (Scrum of Scrums, PI planning, retrospectives etc) to understand the value and purpose of them.

Coach and teach teams/POs/Delivery Leads/ Programme Leads in developing OKRs/product visions and roadmaps, lagging and leading measures and promoting teams in self organisation.

Guide the team to break work into small, discrete pieces of value or learning

Promotes best practices in areas including refinement, prioritisation, stakeholder engagement and introducing tools and techniques.

Encourage and empower the lab to self-manage, utilise feedback for continuous learning and improvement in efficient and incremental value delivery.

Help enable team to visualise the optimal sequence of work, measure and understand their performance through metrics (throughput, cycle time, happiness etc) and use this as the basis for their improvement activity.

Promote psychological safety and wellbeing creating a safe, trusting, and open environment for the team.

Coach and support team to identify blockers/barriers to effective delivery and remove

Learning/curious attitude, energy, and enthusiasm for creative disruption and to continuously strive to improve the organisation, team, and your knowledge and skills.

Lead Scrum Master community, Value Stream, Lab and Chapter improvements to help improve efficiency, sharing great practice across these groups.

What we need from you:

Extensive knowledge and understanding of Agile frameworks (such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFE, Nexus), and practical experience of working in a variety of Agile environments.

Strong understanding and experience of change delivery lifecycles.

Proven experience of techniques that support Agile working such as Dev Ops, Lean, System Thinking, Queueing Theory, Complex Adaptive systems, Theory of Constraints/Critical Chain.

You'll have a Scrum Master Certification - PSM1 and PSM2 or equivalent.
