We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Test Engineer with great technical skills able to coach and mentor other testers.

This is a rewarding role within the Test Team and provides an opportunity to contribute to the success of existing and future services provided by Companies House.

We currently expect our people to attend the Cardiff office a minimum of one day a week but the exact degree of choice you have will depend on your role and your day-to-day work activities and should be agreed through discussions with your line manager.   Job description   You will be part of a scrum team responsible for the automated and manual testing of Companies House services. They will act as an advocate for quality and champion behaviour driven development.

You will work in an Agile environment promoting Behaviour Driven Development and an automate first approach.

You will take ownership of the scrum's automated tests which are written in the Gherkin syntax within a Java based framework using Cucumber/Selenium WebDriver.

The tests run on a Selenium Grid with the infrastructure hosted on AWS. You will be responsible for test approach within your scrum team, and the quality of the delivered code.


Person specification   As a Senior Test Engineer you will;
- Identify and raise awareness of risks arising from the automation test results
- Identify new and implement existing test frameworks to improve confidence in testing
- Be proficient in a range of coding languages (you may be an expert in only one)
- Mentor and advise other team members in testing practices

Experience
You will have experience of;
- Automation of manual processes
- Collaborative working
- Working in an Agile environment
- Leadership, coaching or mentoring of others

You will need to be able to demonstrate
- A relevant certification to either ISTQB or ISEB standard or relevant functional and non-functional technical testing experience.

The following would be beneficial but not essential;
- Certified Agile Tester or equivalent Agile working experience.
- Experience of Non Functional testing practices including Security, Performance and Accessibility Testing.

Technical Skills
You will be proficient in Automation Testing using technologies such as Java, Gherkin, Selenium/Cucumber. You will be expected to coach and mentor Test Engineers.
