Salary & Benefits: The base salary banding for this role is £81,928 - £122,892 in London and £70,784 - £106,176 outside of London plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. Our Cloud Engineering team is looking for an experienced and passionate Engineering Lead to lead the Infrastructure Provisioning team working on one of the Group's flagship projects to deliver a strategic platform for Cloud that will enable the business to realise the next generation of services that form the Bank's vision for 2023 and beyond! The role is a 'hands-on' leadership role leading from the front - setting an example of behaviours and practices for team members to learn from and adopt in their own careers and development. An advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting them with resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing yourself and the team along industry trends. Specific activities which you'll be responsible for include things like;Leading and supporting "hands on" the engineering team in the development of an orchestration layer and associated SDKs, APIs and cloud functions that drives fully self service cloud environment creation using a combination of both Terraform and downstream API pipelines.Leading, mentoring and developing the skills of the teamBeing responsible for the Product Roadmap and contributing to wider Cloud Technology RoadmapsDeveloping and delivering elements of the roadmapContributing to the design and delivery of cloud platforms and automation systemsDriving the creation / maintenance / prioritisation of the backlog with the team and ensuring the needs of our consumers are anticipated and included on the backlogCommunicating the backlog and roadmap across key teams within and beyond our Cloud Services areaAlways seeking opportunities for improvements, new features and implementing them Skills we need to see from applicants?Engineering Lead skills - 70% roleExperience of leading a team of software or Infrastructure engineers a blend of both deep domain and technical expertise within a teamDevelopment experience background with a more recent move to Azure or GCP Cloud or Infrastructure worlds, ideally including experience of application / systems designDemonstration of passion for developing your team in a "player-coach" model, including developing and shaping the teamFamiliar with working in an Agile / Scrum base mannerTechnical skillsA passion for continuous improvement via automation and self serviceA Practitioner of an IaC tool, preferably Terraform, but others such as Ansible will be consideredKnowledge of API brokers or API orchestration layers in general, plus development of RESTful APIsGood experience of scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl, PowerShell etc)Uses CI/CD pipelines using any of Jenkins, Github Actions or equivalent along with GitHub & GitOpsProduct owner - 30 % of roleCreate / maintain / prioritise the backlog for your products and team to maximise the value from our products to our customersProvide regular constructive feedback to the teamCreate / maintain / Deliver against a directional roadmapWork with our internal customers to understand and anticipate their needs and build these into the backlogsHas strong Communication skills Desirable SkillsAzure Public Cloud knowledge especially Azure Functions, Azure API Manager, and relational or NoSQL Cloud Databases from an application point of view e.g. CosmosDBKeen to remove bottlenecks, toil and repetitive work that affects developer velocityKnows what a developer wants and needs from a cloud platformExperience of automating a Secrets manager e.g. Hashicorp Vault, or otherAn understanding of Cloud Security conceptsCloud Certifications are welcome What can I expect in Return?We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential!
