Lloyds Banking Group:

We are on a mission to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it! Continuing our extensive transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mind-set is changing to craft a true engineering-led organisation. Together we make it possible!

LBG Labs:

The Card Servicing lab is a flexible and multi skilled team based in Edinburgh city centre. Our purpose is to provide market leading customer experience through the servicing of Debit and Credit cards via multiple channels, including digital. We are responsible for servicing over 38 million active debit and credit cards across all LBG brands and work alongside global industry leaders including Visa and MasterCard using data, technology and systems thinking to drive great outcomes and experiences for our customers.

About the role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Solution Architect to drive the design of reliable, scalable and functionally rich software solutions and transformational technology solutions for our customers.

As a Solution Architect, you will lead from the front in designing and realising our estate, including digital. You will work with Engineering Leads and Lead Developers to ensure we are building the right thing - and building the thing right. As well as guiding and communicating our enterprise vision through Solution Design, you will play a huge part in keeping our customers safe, through smart, pragmatic design choices that can be built, modified, and operated in a fast-paced agile environment.

About you:

Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Card Servicing technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders.

Specifically you will:

Be responsible for our application architecture and the delivery of our engineering design deliverables and managing architecture decisions through formal governance processes.

Manage the IT Roadmap, driving best practice initiatives.

Ensure IT compliance and governance policies are met

Act as a key partner to our software engineers, working together to grow our technology capability

What we need from you:

You will have experience of designing solutions for demanding stakeholders, demonstrating diligence, insight and willingness to challenge. This is a leadership role, providing direction for our Lab engineers, blending domain knowledge and deep technical expertise, and coaching cross-disciplinary feature teams to deliver high quality maintainable software. You will understand that good architecture is as much about the change and operating model as it is about the more technical aspects of the role, and your design approach will reflect this.

You will also know and understand how to keep our customers safe, through a strong working knowledge of software and infrastructure security controls.

As a minimum we will need to see evidence of:

Prior experience in a solution architecture position.

Strong understanding of modern software development practices

Strong understanding of building applications through containerised microservices-based architectures, with a working-to-strong understanding of cloud methodologies

Working knowledge of infrastructure and security architecture practices and concerns

Have played an active part in architecture and design governance

What you will get in return:

On top of our team ethos we're genuine about both equal opportunity and our colleagues representing the communities we serve - developing and advancing the best in our people through personal development, training, qualifications and upskilling on the job.

The sheer scale and size of Lloyds brings great career development opportunities and we are set to continue to grow our Engineering functions across the group for many years to come.

Together we have a key role to play in shaping the bank of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll continue to have opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

And finally...

We pride ourselves on being hard-working, outcome-focused, and passionate about making a difference. We're focused on creating a values-led culture, and our approach to inclusion and diversity means that we can all make a real difference, together
