South Wales Police particularly welcomes applicants from under-represented groups.  The Digital Services Department serves both Gwent and South Wales Police and is charged with improving our services through the application of technology. Our team is responsible for making the process of policing more efficient, effective, and better through the introduction of digital technology. This busy department covers all the main digital programmes in the force from Facial Recognition Technology to HR Systems, Digital Interviews and Fleet Telematics to name but a few.  The E-Services Developer post is based in our in-house Research and Development team and will provide the opportunity for applicants to be involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle for a series of real-life challenges facing the South Wales and Gwent forces. The team primarily rely on the Microsoft stack to develop solutions (C#, .Net Core, Xamarin, SQL server, Azure). This is a permanent contract and candidates should be able to hit the ground running as this is a busy team. Candidates who have skills working with Xamarin for Android would be particularly welcome as there is significant demand for mobile app development in the Force. Please note that all applicants will have to complete pre-employment checks This role is suitable for part time/job share workers. The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting. Please be aware that if your current post is within the Public Service Centre, if you were employed after 1st February 2017 you must have completed 2 years' tenured service before applying for any other roles.
