Location: Manchester Salary & Benefits: £70,784 - £88,480 (depending on experience) base salary, plus annual discretionary personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (maximum amount when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot (option to use across range of benefits),, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. What team does this sit in Our mission is to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it! We have an opening for Lead Software Engineer for the Core Banking System team (CBS) which is a flexible and multi skilled team based in Wythenshawe in Manchester. Our purpose is to provide market leading customer experience through the servicing of PCA and Savings accounts via multiple channels, including digital for 30 million customers and 56 million accounts This opportunity also covers the Enterprise Account Aggregation datastore (EAADS) System of Engagement (SOE) and the Engineering lead would also have responsibility for this application.

Do you have deep domain and technical expertise and a great passion for mentoring and developing people to achieve their potential? Are you a capable communicator with the ability to contribute to continuous improvement and collaborate with other technology teams?

 

Key to this role will be......

Owning the delivery of complex technical programmes and projects across component teams

Setting the Strategic Direction for the platform ensuring it remains a viable and resilient application over the next decade

An understanding and focus on the importance of technology risk management, along with the ability to communicate the customer impact.

Building relationships across the bank and being comfortable working in an agile environment to deliver customer driven solutions and high quality software

 

What you'll need

Strong internal and external customer management

Experience leading engineering teams

Unisys Mainframe . COBOL, C, JCL

CBS application - in depth knowledge from both a technical and a business point of view.

Understanding and application of industry standard methodologies including agile to bring about more rapid delivery

 

It would be advantageous if you have experience of the following ......

Design Authorities - chairing and facilitating technical decisions to ensure the application remain resilient and easy to maintain

Good understanding of design and build activities across the lifecycle - unit testing, system testing and integration testing

Run - covering for absences and helping with resolution of any production incidents as needed - this will mean at times that you'll own service issues that may impact 20M+ customers.

Experience with Software Engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence etc. and Line Management would be an advantage.
