We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

Academic Publishing is changing as never before, as it responds to new ways of working across open research and digital learning delivery. Cambridge has emerged as an industry leader in new commercial models to support its development from content provider to service partner for the university sector. Stepping into this position, you will take a leading role in planning the effective change and transformation of our sales systems landscape to support the changing needs of the Academic business

Positioned within the growing Academic Business Analysis and Systems team, you will lead the department's evolving needs in setting the vision for systems, creating roadmaps for development work and managing the implementation of change across the Sales and Customer Services teams that use these systems. This is a highly visible role working with senior leaders across the business, leading a small team of product owners and offers the opportunity to be highly influential in the successful implementation of the Academic Strategy.

Our systems expert

You will know our systems inside out, and you know exactly where they need to transform, how they need to transform, and the knock-on effect that will have on our sales team. Your leadership and expert planning skills will come in handy when you are evaluating how our systems can be better to support our sales team, and how we can better our ways of working. Because of your background in how technology processes work, including agile development methodologies, systems expertise will come naturally to you. Your change management experience (and possibly even certification) will allow you to successfully implement new systems and processes, along with your recent experience managing systems and ways of working changes.

A focus on strategy

As a representative of our Academic division on several working groups across the whole of Cambridge, you will have our Strategy at the forefront of your mind, making sure it is supported by the wider developments. Your experience managing the business needs for sales and distribution systems and your ability to plan for and build a strong reliable team will make you successful in this role. It's also a bonus if you have exposure to an academic publishing environment. Communication is one of your strengths, and you are easily able to articulate systems capabilities to business colleagues at the highest level to create strategic thinking and direction for systems investment.

The project leader

Making sure our business and technology colleagues understand our system requirements, you will lead projects to develop or replace our systems and ensure our Business Systems team is fully operational. Working with a number of key stakeholders, you will develop roadmaps for the systems remit and provide these to necessary managers.

A leader of teams

With the opportunity to establish a fully functioning Business Systems team, you will resource how you think best to ensure our key systems are maintained and any tickets raised for development are progressed and prioritised appropriately.
