Essential skills

*Strong?capability in solutions architecture, supported by a proven track record?

*Appreciation of enterprise delivery issues

*The ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designs

*Strong collaborative skills, including direct experience of influencing business colleagues and working with technical architects to achieve the right outcomes

*Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

*Ability to build trust and credibility quickly and have the flexibility and willingness to partner with key stakeholders from all areas, both internal and external to HMRC

*Ability to translate technical concepts between software engineering, delivery?management, service management and business stakeholders so they are understood by all

*Good understanding of cloud technologies and their implications for IT solutions

*Ability to bring breadth of architectural knowledge - understanding end-to-end solutions across multiple domains and components

*Ability to drill down into details of software design and understand technical IT issues

Desirable skills

*Knowledge of IT Strategy and Development Lifecycle; awareness of Business Analysis, Business Process Modelling and Requirements articulation

*Experience of working as an Architect within significant IT Change/Transformation Programmes

*A sound, broad knowledge of IT, and an understanding of how the architecture specialism relates to other areas of IT and how it impacts on other business functions

*Understand Application integration, Hybrid Integration Platform architecture and the use of Integration patterns

*An awareness of programming techniques and languages, for example - APIs, SOAP, Restful services, XML, JSON, Java, message routing and queuing technology

*Awareness of Agile delivery methodologies

*Awareness of cost estimation and modelling

*Knowledge and/or experience of data matching/cleansing and mastering data

*Knowledge of microservices

*Experience of User Interface design

*Experience of end-to-end process re-engineering in large organisations?

*Experience of using architecture modelling tools
