Premier Group are currently engaged with a large established client in the Birmingham area, who require a Senior Systems Engineer to join their growing team. You will be responsible for the administration and operation of our clients infrastructure.
The successful Senior Systems Engineer will be part of delivery services team and will work closely with the head of delivery services and other Senior Systems Engineers within IT Operations.
Senior Systems Engineer - Responsibilities:
Candidate MUST have strong Power Shell scripting experience as well as operational responsibility over Azure Iaas, PaaS services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and PKI servicesInstall and maintain hardware and software on a virtualized Windows networkDevelop processes and procedures to ensure managed environments maintain the highest levels of availability, security, and qualityLead the security work stream of Active Directory consolidation program; Identify risks and provide guidance regarding remediation of gaps, to facilitate delivery of a hardened and sustainable AD environment. Deliver scripted solutions to assist with discovery and remediation of ad-hoc security gapsFollow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management system.Develop capacity forecasts for managed environments that are proactive and prevent problems prior to outagesManage "crisis situations" to a satisfactory conclusionProvide guidance on topics broadly related to information security risk and complianceServes as escalation point and provide troubleshooting guidance and direction in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application or system problems.Candidate must be able to accommodate schedule flexibility to deal with escalations and occasional changes during non-core business hours
Senior Systems Engineer - Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience supporting a production environmentAt least 3 to 5 years of relevant practical experience managing/troubleshooting authentication servicesAt least 5 plus years of strong PowerShell Automation ExperienceAt least 5 years of advanced level Active Directory experienceKnowledge of Azure, Kerberos, LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, DHCPExperience with implementation of backup/restore and disaster and recovery strategies - Veritas products preferredStrong familiarity with security issues surrounding network computing and experience in implementation of security systems and controlsIndustry specific training or designation a plusTechnical degree or certifications preferred but not requiredExpert knowledge of Active Directory in a Windows Server 2016 environmentSignificant experience with Windows operating systems scripting and troubleshootingExperience with user and security administration in the Windows environmentExtensive experience with maintenance and administration of VMWare virtualized systemsKnowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online, Office 365, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp) preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Non-Windows Server architectures, Virtualization Technologies, and LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN network technologies
