Location: Flexible, the role will be contracted to one of our five offices. Our priority is to enable all our people to work productively and effectively from any location. Through hybrid working we offer great home and office-based working opportunities and more general flexibility over where you work to be productive. There will be times when you will be expected to attend the office to collaborate with colleagues or travel due to business need. 

The salary range for this role is £49,549(CB0) - £63,200(CB4) pa, with potential for further progression.

Fixed term - for a period of 12 months (until at least 30 June 2023)

About the role

We are looking for UX designers, service designers and product specialists, with a background in designing digital experiences, to join our growing designer community at the ICO and work on innovative and creatively challenging projects that have a positive social impact. You will be working within the Technology Department, the ICO's centre of technical and tech policy expertise. Its work is high-impact, complex, and at the frontier of emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence or immersive environments.

About you

If you have experience of creating intuitive, user-friendly digital experiences and interfaces, collaborating with designers and developers, or you have expertise in the research or design and the behavioural or psychological impact of service design, and you are passionate about helping to design online services that protect people's privacy, then we would like to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate will have: 

2 years' post higher degree experience in areas relating to the job role

Up to date expert knowledge of current trends and practices

Excellent standards of literacy and written communication skills

Extensive knowledge of UX, HCI product design, principles and practices
