If the idea of working on a unique historical programme and playing a meaningful Data Scientist role in the story of our capital city sounds like the kind of challenge you would relish, come and be part of our structure for success.

The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal (R&R) Programme is set to be the UK's biggest and most complex ever renovation programme. Indeed, significant work is needed to protect and preserve this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site and ensure it can continue to serve as the home of the UK Parliament in the 21st Century. Accordingly, we're looking for people with a good understanding of data science and a real desire to help shape our future  - and improve our current capabilities - to take on this brand new role within our Data and Digital department.

This challenging role sits within our Data team and will provide you with a unique opportunity to establish an entire data science practice. But that's not all. As the programme progresses, you'll also get to play your part in co-creating a data function and designing capability that will help us deliver some truly complex and high-profile works in a safe, data-driven and cost-effective manner. Along the way, we'll rely on you to work across the programme to understand where data science can add value. Developing models/prototypes, creating and evolving a data science toolkit, develop inga data platform and helping us deliver on our Digital Construction capabilities - you'll get to do this and more,  including working extensively with 3D Models, imagery point clouds and a wide range of archive data.

To succeed, you'll need an appreciation of data technologies and a proven ability to use data analytics, visualisations and dashboarding platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik or equivalent. You'll also need experience of design and test machine-learning (ML/AI) models using software/libraries such as Spark, Tensorflow or equivalent. Used to delivering value through the application of data science, you have a genuine interest in Digital Construction too. What's more, you're able to empathise with business users and talk ‘in human' and have a real desire to learn and gain new skills in what promises to be a stimulating and unique environment.

We are committed to promoting diversity and to equal opportunities in employment. We are building diverse teams and seek to attract and retain talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures to join us on this hugely challenging and important project.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer 30 days annual leave, a generous pension, discretionary bonus scheme, life assurance and payment of professional membership.

Please apply by submitting a CV and cover letter stating your current salary and benefits, your suitability for the role and if you believe you have any current or potential conflicts of interest relating to this

Successful candidates will be required to complete security vetting to a SC Security level obtained through the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD). Candidates are required to pass these checks before a start date can be confirmed. Applicants should also be aware that, depending on the role applied for, if they have resided outside of the UK for a total of more than two of the last five years, they may not be eligible for vetting.
