The opportunity:
Airbus Defence and Space provides a range of space-based services to customers worldwide including supporting the UK Armed Forces, and its NATO Allies. Airbus has owned and operated the Skynet military communications system, providing 24/7 services across the world for more than 15 years on behalf of the UK MOD. You will join our ADG (Advanced Development Group) team within the Communications Product Group and will report to the Head of ADG. The group is undertaking the design and implementation of a series of satellite communications Software Defined Radio (SDR) modem systems for Government and Military use. You will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team containing system, software, firmware and infrastructure engineers. You will be responsible for developing firmware and field programmable gate array (FPGA) aspects of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) modem products based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies. You may not have a complete understanding of the engineering techniques and technical aspects of satellite modem systems, but we'll be happy to teach you through a combination of working with our existing team and by training. The role:
You will be responsible for developing firmware and field programmable gate array (FPGA) aspects of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) modem products based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies. You may not have a complete understanding of the engineering techniques and technical aspects of satellite modem systems, but we'll be happy to teach you through a combination of working with our existing team and by trainin You can expect to be involved in the following; - Group activities to analyse customer need and define a solution
- Development of Software/Firmware prototypes in an agile environment.
- Testing of solutions, including lab and field testing.
- Support demonstration of solution to customers.
- Further Development of proven prototypes to a deployment standard. About you:
You will be able to demonstrate the following;
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Xilinx Vivado, Xilinx Zynq SoC , Vivado HLS, HDL Coder
- Agile development and tools (JIRA/Confluence Wiki/Bitbucket)
- Experience in Waveform, DSP and/or Software Defined Radio or a similar technical area.
- Experience of integrating Firmware and Embedded Software developments.
- Appropriate bachelor's degree with modules covering some aspects of these requirements. (E.g. Computer Science, Digital Electronics or similar) or sufficient experience in these areas.
