The Opportunity
Use your cyber security skills to defend democracy. As we fulfil our digital aspirations to make UK Parliament more open and accessible, we must also meet the challenge of diverse and ever-evolving online threats. Joining our fast-growing team, you will develop new protective monitoring tools and services and help to automate incident response. You can expect to:
resolve cyber security incidents and carry out forensic investigations
perform analysis to identify tactics, techniques and procedures for cyber-attack, and use these to create improvement plans
gather intelligence and research technical cyber threats
ensure that cyber security is built into projects by providing expert advice on detection and monitoring, configuration and security weaknesses
advise and educate people across Parliament on personal online security and wider cyber security matters
What You Need
We need to stay ahead of potential threats, so a willingness to keep learning and developing is key to your success. Along with in-depth knowledge of current cyber threats, technology and process, you will bring:
the ability to analyse incident trends, facts and figures to determine the most pressing threats
excellent experience of co-ordinating IT incident response and advising others on incident management, incident investigation and response processes
the ability to create policies, procedures and guidelines to meet Parliament's specific needs
a capacity to form effective and positive working relationships with people at all levels across government and the wider cyber industry
you must pass security clearance and have the right to work in the UK to join the team
About The Team
Parliament is a historic institution steeped in tradition which has ambitious digital aspirations. The cyber threat to Parliament is a challenging one to meet, balancing security and transparency whilst protecting some very high-profile targets. The cyber function has to constantly evolve with the needs of the UK public and is undergoing significant change in how it operates.
The Cyber team must remain switched on to geopolitical and domestic activity in order to protect its people, data and technology. The team is responsible for operational cyber security including logging and monitoring, incident response, threat and vulnerability management, intelligence-led penetration testing, development of cyber policies and standards, security architecture, forensic investigations and risk management.
