The Infrastructure Security Engineer will manage, and participate in the delivery and support of IT infrastructure and IT infrastructure security for new and existing systems and solutions. You will ensure RSSB infrastructure is secure and adheres to Cyber Security standards, manage DR processes and business continuity. Where appropriate, you will assist other team members in the provision of 2nd and 3rd line technical IM&T support (Desktop, Software, Infrastructure and Telephony), as well as maintain and deliver a high degree of customer service for all RSSB IM&T support queries and Requests for Change.
Responsabilities
Proactively respond to security vulnerabilities identified by monitoring tools, performing remediation tasks
Flag weaknesses in RSSB infrastructure systems which could cause security vulnerabilities and make recommendations for improvement
Research, design and implement cyber security solutions for RSSB systems and products that comply with all applicable security policies and standards
Collaborate with the wider IM&T Team to ensure the security, effective management, administration (including security vulnerability and patch management) and operation of the RSSB Cloud services and onsite physical infrastructure environment, including Azure / Containers / Kubernetes / Virtual servers / M365/D365 and SaaS solutions
Management and oversight of the network infrastructure, including network switches, routers, firewalls and virtualised environment.
Work with the wider IM&T Team, business, and internal and external business partners to ensure that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration process of IT Projects and systems
Analyse and make recommendations to improve network, system, and application architectures
Input to the review and update of cyber security policies, architectures, and standards
Input to the definition, documentation and testing of the RSSB business continuity plan and responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance, testing and enhancement of RSSB disaster recovery systems/solutions
Planning and operation of backup/restore solutions for all Systems/Services and associated data
Plan, manage and communicate infrastructure change in conjunction with IT Operation Team Leads and Information Security manager and wider IM&T and business departments
Mentor and coach colleagues and provide peer to peer advice, as required
Create and maintain technical documentation
Qualifications
BS or MA in computer science, cybersecurity (e.g. Cyber Essentials Plus, CISSP, ISO 27001 or a related field or relevant experience
Experience with application, database and operating system security hardening, vulnerability assessments, security audits, penetration testing, intrusion prevention systems and other security control systems for example PAM, SIEM, IDR etc.
Microsoft and/or other technical certifications or relevant demonstrable experience
Practical expertise in endpoint, andnetwork security, identity management and authentication. Azure cloud services (Containers, Kubernetes), VPN, firewall, WAF, network monitoring, intrusion detection, and wireless security
Proficiency with at least one scripting language (e.g., PowerShell)
Knowledge of and ability to problem solve and trouble shoot Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server v2008/2012/2016/2019+ management, MS InTune mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) Windows 10 OS)
Demonstrable knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
Proficient in Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GPO), DNS and DHCP
Deploy patches and software applications using InTune / WSUS
Knowledge of administering and supporting Azure IaaS/PaaS solutions
Knowledge of backup/recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam Backup, Arcserve UDPand DRaaS)
Working knowledge of ITIL best practice - IT Service Management, particularly Incident, Problem and Change management
Effective communication, stakeholder' and supplier management skills
Ability to work in Teams and individually using own initiative and capable of self-managing workload. Confident to debate and challenge on Infrastructure topics and takes ownership and pride in delivering a high standard of work
