We're the Consumer Servicing team, and we're undertaking a series of colleague and customer journeys, aimed at improving the way we do business with our clients throughout the UK, providing better value to our relationships and increasing the productivity of our colleagues, thereby Helping Britain Prosper.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate to join us as a Quality Engineer in one of our digital feature teams. As a highly experienced member of our wider Engineering team, we expect that you to demonstrate and apply exemplary software engineering practices and skills in addition to mentoring our more junior team members.

You'll be accountable for running and leading testing across our fortnightly and Monthly Release cycle, assuring the quality of delivery into these Releases and managing the raising of defects and backlog items for addressing either within the current Sprint or for prioritisation for future sprints. You'll be working with a peer or reporting team of other Quality Engineers and will need to be thorough yet flexible as befits Agile delivery.

What essential skills we'll need from you:

Experience with Software Engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence

Experience developing tests for functional and regression testing that include manual, automated, ad-hoc testing, exploratory testing

Experience building tests frameworks from scratch for Java, JavaScript environments

Thorough understanding of test pyramid and test automation methodologies BDD/TDD, unit testing and integration testing

Hands-on experience with BDD, Cucumber & Gherkin

Proficient using Selenium Web Driver

Experience of testing REST API's (Postman for example)

Good understanding of CI/CD methodology and tools such as Jenkins

Cross browser testing tools (ideally Sauce Lab)

Work with the deployment team to roll out new changes and support them when required in triaging production issues

Understanding of Microservice architecture and route to live process

Investigating user problems referred to you by the product teams, testing bugs, and creating and managing bug reports.

We'd also welcome the following experience, skills, or background:

Reviewing design proposals, acceptance criteria and processes, and recommend improvements.

Security testing experience using open-source tools

Experience of working within an Agile scrum team

ISTQB certification desirable
