The Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS) Team is looking for a Lead Cloud Security Architect to join the team, they are the trusted team for digital across the entire Defra Group.

The Lead Cloud Security Architect will work with the Cloud Centre of Excellence, supporting multiple projects implement cloud services securely. The objective is to ensure delivery of secure end-to-end technical architectures and implemented designs based on requirements, strategic drivers, best practices, and guidance. The Lead Cloud Security Architect will operate within a pan government and industry aware context, ensuring new cloud services, or modifications to existing cloud or hybrid cloud services, meet the Minimum Cyber Security Standard, comply with our obligations under the Security Policy Framework and comply with Obligation 6 of the Technology Code of Practice (TCOP) to "Make things Secure". This includes "secure by design" & ensuring "Privacy by Design" appropriate to the data being processed.

You will be responsible for:

Design, and potentially build, logical components of security architectures that will enable the delivery of the required business outcome and service.

Work across multiple projects, and be expected to understand and influence the dependencies, overlaps and future implications of solutions

Assure the work of other colleagues and suppliers, challenging and escalating when necessary. Provide leadership by exemplifying architectural best practice to other architects.

Work with Defra group Security to ensure that new services can be monitored and that their security compliance can be verified with minimal effort.

Look forwards to identify common needs and gaps, then work with the wider team to influence the technology roadmaps to improve security stance

Create appropriate formal architecture products for (amongst other activities) product selection, options, and impact assessments to validate solution choices, enable traceability and provide corporate knowledge for ongoing support efforts.

Ensure that the security infrastructure supports the needs of services and tools built upon it, working with infrastructure architecture colleagues.
