One of our clients are looking for an experienced SC cleared Engineering Manager to join them on a contract basis.

Inside IR35

SC clearance required

Until end of November initially

2-3 days per week onsite at Reading, rest remote

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

Undertaken design and configuration for the life of a project and particular experience in the design of a variety of facilities / utilities, including office accommodation, utility infrastructure for both conventional and hazardous environments.

*Demonstrate a good understanding of technical standards and regulatory requirements for construction as appropriate

*Understanding of the influences of design and operation on the installation, commissioning and maintenance requirements of a regulated site.

*Knowledge and use of New Engineering Contract and National Building Specification

*Highly desirable to have extensive and relevant experience of co-ordinating design teams and a multi-discipline engineering resource within both conventional and hazardous environments

*Good technical and management skills including problem solving and decision making.

*Good oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for report, documentation and letter writing

*Good interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication to all levels to both internal and external personnel

*Familiarity with standard office software including word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, presentations and databases

*Minimum a degree in engineering or Chartered Membership of an engineering institution

Ensure that the Engineering Requirements are suitable and appropriate and advise the Senior Engineering Manage as such. Identify options, select the appropriate solution and provide the right facility design solutions such that, for allocated work packages, they: meet business needs and functional performance, through life performance, are licensable and are deliverable. Ensure the Design Intent and Design Information Configuration are maintained from facility design inception through to project handover.

Key Accountabilities:

*Provide the facility design solution utilising and managing design houses.

*Deliver integrated utility infrastructure and facility designs, with appropriate safety documentation, in a proportionate manner.

*Assess the suitability of the designs for the next phase of the lifecycle (e.g. tender; construction; commissioning; handover) and advise the Principal Engineering Manager.

*Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

*Ensure the supply chain deliver in terms of quality, meeting requirements, safety, value for money and schedule.

*Ensure that the Engineering Requirements are suitable & appropriate, and advise the Principal Engineering Manager.

*Recommend the budget and programme, to the Principal Engineering Manager, to deliver design.

*Assess the suitability of engineering design resources (both internal and external) to execute facility design. Ensure adequate competency and competency records.

*Maintain oversight of the facility design as it develops via routine reviews.

*Deliver, to the Principal Engineering Manager, design solutions that meet business needs, functional performance, through life performance and is licensable and deliverable.
