The Production and Development team has responsibility for the rollout and continuous improvement of UKTV's video on demand products under the digital brand UKTV Play, across a range of platforms including web, iOS, Android and TV devices. We're a growing team of multi-disciplined, talented individuals who relish the opportunity to develop tomorrow's television and video experiences.
We've recently surpassed 5 million registered users and about to enter an exciting period, looking to optimise on our direct-to-consumer products, continuing to focus on new features and ways to deliver our great content.
We're looking for a UI designer at this critical and exciting time in our roadmap.
Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a talented UI designer to design and shape our direct-to-consumer products. The ideal candidate will have experience working in agile teams, with developers, project managers and UX designers on a direct-to-consumer product(s). You will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.
You will constantly be striving to improve the product, being influenced by new technology and the constantly changing VoD landscape. This is a great chance to work for a forward-thinking media company, supporting the UX/UI lead to shape the future of television with high profile consumer-oriented products across several platforms.
In this role you will get to:
Create visual assets for all digital channels including TV, site, app and emails
Assist with creating engaging layouts for content across the website, external communications and creative projects
Create strong and innovative designs across a range of screen types and devices, adhering to any interface guidelines and technical restrictions as required
Create production-ready designs and work closely with developers to ensure their effective translation into finished products
Work closely with the UX/UI lead and senior designer to share ideas and refine concepts across all stages of design
Be a recognised point of contact for design within the product team as required
Work within the established agile management processes of the team, that includes stand-ups, showcases, retrospectives and sprint planning sessions
Be a good team player, liaise with fellow team members and motivate them, and assist other stakeholders in the business when required
Manage your own workload, juggling priorities and contribute to the agile project management process

Deliver ready-to-dev designs
Design world class products with a highly engaging, simple & logical UI
Maintain, evolve and use our design system to provide efficient & scalable UI solutions
Improve the design of our existing products and ensure new products are designed well and effectively
Live and embrace UKTV's CLICC values and be a positive and valued member of the team.
We are looking for someone who is:
Experience using, creating and contributing towards a design system
Knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Sketch and InVision
Task card and progress tracking systems such as Trello or Jira
Industry standard design software such as Photoshop and Illustrator
Confident presentation and storytelling abilities
Knowledge and interest of the latest design tools and processes to make us as effective as possible, while knowing how to get the most out of what we've go
Portfolio that showcases your contribution to products and demonstrates originality, innovation, and strong problem solving skills
