DNS IPAM Architect and IP Registrar 12 monthsRemote / Canary Wharf / Nottingham Role Purpose Architect, design and implement systems, services, processes, policies and standards which ensure the effective management, control and support of critical network name and addressing resources, supporting business growth with outstanding service while maximise cost efficiency. Define Best Practice Manage the use of globally unique IP address space, both internal use and on the public Internet Engage with Registrars (ARIN, APNIC, RIPE, and possibly others), and with the clients legal teams to ensure this valuable resource is formally and legally assigned to the company Architect, design and build enterprise DNS / IPAM services based on Infoblox DDI technologies across the clientArchitect, design and define standards for load balancing applications across multiple technology stacks (i.e global site selection / virtual and cloud-native / ingress controllers).Manage the use of RFC 1918 IP address space, for internal use, and in cloud Define a unified client network name and address strategy, which: Identifies business goals which need address capacity such as cloud first Defines an incremental approach towards a single RFC 1918 address space across the whole of clientDefines how and when public IP address space should be used Defines work needed by engineering teams to rectify address overlaps Manage the use of globally unique 2 byte and 4 byte registered ASNsManage the use of private 2 byte and 4 byte registered ASNsImplement best practice management for network name and address resources Ensure all network names and numbers are correctly recorded and lifecycle managed Establishes policy, standards, process and controls to implement the strategy Implement best practice Be the authoritative I & C lead for network naming and addressing for any future mergers and acquisitions to do similar remediation earlier in the process Communicate policies, standards and processes appropriately to the correct audience Work with system development teams to advocate best practice and ensure compliance with policies, discouraging the use of overlapping address space, IP literals, complex product discovery mechanisms, custom BIND zone file mechanisms and other incorrect and problematic use of naming and addressing Work across the Technology org to measure the use of network resources and compliance with policy, identifying teams that need assistance and coaching them Advocate the use of IPv6 where appropriate and engage with internal teams to define appropriate policies and standards which encourage early adoption Define features and requirements for the IPAM service delivery teams and support their development, automated testing and release Define and implement a sustainable process with Vendor Management which ensures all contracts with Regional Internet Registries and DNS Service vendors are renewed on time Define and steer work to reclaim and release unused public address space as this currently has a commercial value of ~$40 per address Manage our response to abuse alerts (we get quite a few of these due to our geo location probes) including defining requirements to automate this and working with service delivery teams to implement Define and implement a sustainable process to ensure regular renewal of our DNS domain name contractsArticulate requirements for name and address automation services and work with product owners to define and deliver needed featuresRemediate Technical Debt Design and steer work to Identify overlaps across the client, between: hCLIENT and hRFT RFC1918 hCLIENT and hRFT and REDI RFC1918 hCLIENTand hRFT and FXAll RFC1918 hCLIENT and hRFT and Redpath RFC1918 hCLIENT and hRFT and GIACT RFC1918 Design and steer work to recover address space: RFC 1918 space from the hRFT network post final TR Separation RFC 1918 space from the hCLIENT network post final Borsa Italia Separation Steer work with teams across technology to migrate to new SD-Net name and addressing services and to retire old naming and addressing systems
