About the role The RSPB's digital estate is vital to our mission to give nature a home - from rallying people together to speak up for nature, to inspiring a love of wildlife, to raising the income that pays for our conservation work in the UK and around the world. This role will focus on our retail platform so e-commerce experience is essential with a biased towards interface builds and Progressive Web Applications. Essential skills, knowledge and experience: You will bring the highest level of development expertise to the team and work both individually and collectively to support the RSPB shop platform. Contributing to making well-founded choices in technology. You will be able to communicate effectively with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating initiative with a positive and proactive attitude. You will be able to respond to business requirements with innovative solutions and present creative lateral thinking to technical roadblocks. You will provide inspiration and encouragement to colleagues, mentoring others to learn & grow, promoting a supportive and collaborative team ethic, championing change and innovation. Your rich experience and broad skillset will mean you are a multi-faceted engineer, commercially competent in many languages and comfortable with the architecture they run on. You won't be bound by back/front end labels and you'll thrive in dynamic teams exhibiting agility and capability with high frequency delivery cycles. Your experience in e-commerce platforms will cover more traditional online shop experiences and be forward focussed on PWA e-commerce delivery. The Technology Design and Delivery Team work with a range of technologies and are always looking to develop solutions in the most suitable for each project. You may be working with a range of these including headless platforms, mobile, JavaScript and PWA.
