Job Overview

We would love for you to come and join North Bristol NHS Trust, as the Quality Accreditation & Governance System Programme Manager, a Band 8A role. This is offered as a 12-month fixed term contract to provide programme management across two interrelated projects that are key to understanding and improving quality of patient care at North Bristol Trust.

This is an exciting role in helping us achieve our ambition to be an outstanding organisation for quality of care and rated as such by the Care Quality Commission. The two projects are already running, with strong clinical and non-clinical engagement and commitment to making these successful in 2022.

They both relate to implementing effective information systems but this is not a technical IT role as you will work with technical IT specialist teams internally and externally to ensure effective delivery.

A flexible balance of on-site and off-site working is offered, in line with the needs for effective programme engagement and communication.

The post will report to the Associate Director of Quality Governance with key relationships developed with a range of clinical staff and clinical governance central and divisional teams at all levels of seniority.

You will be working with excellent teams and our commitment to successful delivery of this programme means that you will usually be pushing at ‘open doors' in progressing the work. It's a great time to join us!

Main Duties of the Job

Educated to master's degree level, or with equivalent work experience you will be an experienced programme and project management practitioner with a proven track record working with multiple stakeholders, across internal departmental boundaries and securing engagement. This, coupled with the ability to work with a great degree of flexibility, adaptability and initiative, will enable you to proactively deliver the programme requirements.

The first project, already in progress through pilot work, is the Quality Accreditation Scheme, initially focused on inpatient wards at Southmead Hospital.  We are introducing an accreditation framework to support clinical staff in their drive for continuous improvement in care provision through encouraging staff to strive for and celebrate their ward successes.

The second interrelated project relates to the implementation of a newly procured Quality Governance IT system. This will bring together a range of currently disparate bespoke IT systems, end user created databases and spreadsheets into a single system. The system will facilitate quicker, more accurate and intuitive information capture and significantly enhanced intelligence and reporting to enable continuous improvement actions.

Your role will ensure effective delivery of both projects, liaising with multiple stakeholders across the Trust and also with external suppliers.

Working for Our Organisation

North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award-winning hospital building at Southmead.  We are the regional Major Trauma Centre, and an internationally recognised centre of excellence in a range of services and major specialities. Our vision is that by enabling our teams to be the best that they can be, we will provide exceptional healthcare, personally delivered.

Over recent years NBT has had a strong focus on improving our overall approach to quality governance. In our most recent CQC inspection in June/July 2019, the CQC told us that they found that "There was a comprehensive and well-designed governance improvement programme resulting from the reviews and other internal priorities that had wide ranging support across the trust as well as amongst leaders." This was one of the key components of the Trust's overall rating of 'Good' and being 'Outstanding' for the well-led domain.

We commit to treating each patient as an individual with respect and dignity, aiming to deliver excellent clinical outcomes and a first-class experience for everyone who uses our services.

North Bristol NHS Trust values all people as individuals. We aim to be an anti-discriminatory organisation and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We welcome applicants from all underrepresented groups.
