We are looking to recruit a computing graduate who has interests in systems, data and network administration as well as a desire to facilitate Continuous Service Improvement, to help us implement Splunk (Big Data and Security Management tool) across the University. Initially we will look to gain the benefits of data analytics with Splunk within Digital Services and potentially, in future, branch out to assist businesses and faculties with their requirements. Full training will be undertaken by the successful candidate.
It is important that you understand the types of data available to import into Splunk from Windows and Linux servers as well as switches, routers, firewalls, PC's and other Digital appliances and devices as well as interpreting the data and turning it into information and knowledge.
You will be responsible for getting the data into Splunk and generating dashboards and reports to present the data as requested. These dashboards will be used to monito systems and services to proactively mitigate oncoming issues. The platform will also be used to present trend analysis data and information to enable the production of dashboards, management information and reporting for Digital Services senior executives and operational teams.
Previous experience with Splunk would be an advantage but not a requirement. Your wider IT knowledge and experience, enthusiasm and ability to learn quickly are key to this role.
