The Society is a Which recommended savings provider and we're proud to be one of the Best Big Companies to work for in 2021.In this role you'll provide truly pragmatic Leadership and direction for the CIDO Engineering function (infrastructure and software engineering, environment management and DevOps), ensuring that people, process and technologies are such that the capabilities provided by the function help and support the Society to deliver to its corporate plan, driving efficiencies and right sized controls to maintain stability and safe delivery of change. The bias of the role is to design and engineer new infrastructure and cloud technologies, whilst promoting the adoption of DevOps characteristics through the provision and management of environments and tooling.
You'll Lead the strategy for the automation and delivery of infrastructure and environments as code, embracing tools, process and best practice frameworks and set the direction and lead your senior managers to evolve the capabilities of Platform Engineering ensuring quality, performance and controls are appropriately measured and managed.
And you'll be instrumental in leading the Society strategy on engineering through the Agile and Product model Transformation as well as transforming the testing that is undertaken at all levels
You will also anticipate and react to major technology changes (internal and external) to ensure the Technology Delivery capability is enhanced in line with industry and market practices. About You To be successful in this role you'll need to be an experienced leader that enjoys staying current with technology opportunities, recognising how they can bring business benefit to the Society and being a great influencer to ensure opportunities are exploited.
You'll have a background of exceptional hands on experience which will enable you to recognise detailed challenges and lead teams to resolutions. You will be comfortable working within hybrid environments and able to strategize and execute change across multiple teams whilst maintaining a very pragmatic approach,
Experience in working in agile, product model, Safe is essential to the deliverables for the role
Requirements:
Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred but not essential Substantial experience of running a well-managed function and exposing key metrics and measures to demonstrate governance and velocity. Experience of managing stakeholders at all levels. Experience of managing at a senior level. Experience of leading and delivering change across a variety of technologies Experience of growing and evolving teams and processes. In-depth experience of infrastructure engineering, environment management, Dev Ops culture and technologies. Strong knowledge of Cloud, DevOps, Containerisation, Configuration and Automation will be key to this roles success. Strong Agile experience along with other software development methodologies and processes Commercially aware - budget management, compliance and governance
