The role sits within the ITDD Directorate and works flexibly across a range of responsibilities providing data, data solutions, data analysis and business intelligence to all areas of the business. The Office for Nuclear Regulation is responsible for the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. Their mission is to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. This role can be based at any of ONR's offices in Bootle, Cheltenham or London. However, there will be an expectation to attend our Bootle office occasionally if based at Cheltenham or London.Key Responsibilities:Lead the strategic development and day-to-day running of a function of BI developers/ data engineers, architect, application developers professionals to develop and data solutions and self-service Business Intelligence across ONRAct as a product owner on key data initiatives across the ONREstablish the business requirements to inform activity to design, develop and deliver a suite of business intelligence services for ONR that provides a trusted suite of MI with an emphasis on data quality and data governance; including contribution to the design and build of a data warehouseDevelop a hierarchy of organisational reporting and clarity around data sourcesEvolve the Business Intelligence Strategy and deliver a BI roadmap that promotes standardisation, automation and integration of ONR's extensive data sourcesDevelop data solutions that allow smart capture of the data from across the organisation allowing use of in-house capabilities for developing future proof solutionsStrong strategic thinking and problem solving aligned with organisational goals, with ability to identify opportunities for data innovation and promoting adoption and learning of new tools and techniques where appropriateExperience with playing a key role in the implementation of end to end data models.Develop integrated monthly management reporting and publish in Power BI appsEngagement with the business to enhance business intelligence to support data driven decision making and develop data governance protocols and communicate with data owners their roles and responsibilities.Provision of Business Analysis support and advice to ONR, responding to queries and providing full change life cycle support including root cause analysis, consultation with stakeholders, analysis of requirements, options for consideration and recommendations for way forwardProvide Super user and Systems Administration services for the OTiS time recording System, the Strategic Workforce Planning System and any other corporate IT system that is absorbed as part of the BI functionResponsible as Career Development Manager (CDM) for the 5 managers ensuring that they fulfil their job requirements, and are encouraged to develop their skills when opportunities ariseLiaise with other staff in the Data & Business Intelligence function, ITDD and wider organisation to ensure a consistent approach to procedures, processes, and reporting and the promulgation of best practiceProfileEssential Skills & ExperienceDegree in IT, computer science or a related STEM subjectExperience in establishing, managing and leading an effective business intelligence functionExperience of acting product owner and/or managing agile work streams and understanding of the economical impact of those changesDetailed understanding of business intelligence tools and experience of designing, building, developing and implementing BI using visualisation tools and techniques with excellent knowledge of Power BI, Power automate, PowerApps and Azure platformsEvidence of providing reporting and analytical support to ongoing business operationsKnowledge of database designs and relationship of linksManaging a quality service - ability to communicate the results of highly complex data sources to senior managers and operational staff, and a strong attention to detail; consistently producing outputs to a high standardDeliver at pace - able to prioritise own workload in a busy environment with often competing priorities, ensuring key deadlines are achieved with the ability to prioritise delivery and sequencing of new product releases while establishing a new functionCollaborating and partnering - experience of working in a customer facing role facilitating and promoting collaborative working throughout the organisation, with the ability to engage and consult effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders to establish business requirements and develop and implement relevant BI solutionsChanging and improving - strong self-motivation, taking pride in your work, and a continuous improvement focusJob OfferOpportunity to build a Business Intelligence CapabilityOpportunity to lead on a major data transformation programme
