The Met Office is recruiting for a Networks Team Leader based at our Exeter HQ (with hybrid/remote working).

As our Networks Team Leader , your starting salary will be £37418.00 with opportunities to progress to £41159.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima.

This role attracts a market forces supplement of £2,250 per annum paid quarterly, pro-rated from the date of taking up the appointment to 31 March 2022 - this scheme is currently under review.

Our total reward package is potentially worth up to £55,216.00 per annum, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus, employer pension contributions.

Job Purpose

As our Networks Team Leader, the key duties are:

Team Leadership -provide leadership in the development of staff across the whole team and have specific line management responsibility for a significant number of the team. Define administrative and technical processes and procedures to be used by the whole Network Services team, ensuring consistency across the team.

Team Management - planning, directing, and prioritising the activity of the team. Monitoring activities to ensure delivery of work on time, in full and to the appropriate quality standards; that satisfy customer requirements and are fit for operational use

Provision of new services.

Service Delivery - ensure the network services are delivered in line with the SLA's/OLA's in a cost-effective manner.

We operate an on-call roster in Technology to provide 24/7/365 support to respond to operational service requirements. This post may be part of an on-call roster and the postholder would be required to participate in an on-call roster where in operation. The hiring manager will be able to let you know if this applies to this job.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

A demonstrable track record of successfully managing operational systems in support and development environments or equivalent experience.

To be able to work under broad direction establishing own milestones, team objectives and delegate assignments

Have a proven track record of delivering to tight deadlines

A proven ability to communicate with other departments/teams at a technical and/or business level, also with a range of internal customers and external suppliers.

Understands the importance and benefits of implementing processes in managing information systems such as ITIL and how to use them
