We are seeking an experienced data engineer/analyst to join our ambitious and forward-looking unit of analysts, researchers, data scientists and developers based in the City Intelligence Unit. This post is ideally suited to someone with a passion for creating flexible, efficient infrastructures for data, working to make a positive difference to London's communities and the lives of Londoners.
You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of data about London, including IoT/sensor data, spatial data and economic/social data. You will also have the opportunity to work on high profile projects including:
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience, but you will need to bring with you a strong technical background including excellent knowledge of Python and SQL. As we start to work with larger and more complex datasets, an interest in NoSQL databases will be an advantage.
A logical thinker, you will play a key role in accessing data from our partners - increasingly via APIs and using continuous integration tools. You will provide a boost to our data-driven work, working closely with our data scientists and front-end experts. Through your work, you will assist teams across the GLA to develop high-quality policies, strategies, projects and programmes, ensuring that delivery is underpinned by a strong evidence base.
Organised, you will demonstrate a flair for problem solving and also for creating reusable tools to help others. You will play a key role in our data pipelines to support the increasing number of data services that the GLA provides to its partners.
This role requires a flexible and collaborative approach, working across teams within the GLA and GLA Group, and with senior internal stakeholders on multiple initiatives. If you enjoy working with clients and providing innovative, practical solutions - apply today.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.
