We are seeking an experienced data engineer/analyst to join our ambitious and forward-looking unit of analysts, researchers, data scientists and developers based in the City Intelligence Unit. This post is ideally suited to someone with a passion for creating flexible, efficient infrastructures for data, working to make a positive difference to London's communities and the lives of Londoners. You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of data about London, including IoT/sensor data, spatial data and economic/social data. You will also have the opportunity to work on high profile projects including: Our collaboration with the Alan Turing Institute London's Covid Recovery Programmes Redevelopment of the award-winning London DataStore This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience, but you will need to bring with you a strong technical background including excellent knowledge of Python and SQL. As we start to work with larger and more complex datasets, an interest in NoSQL databases will be an advantage. A logical thinker, you will play a key role in accessing data from our partners - increasingly via APIs and using continuous integration tools. You will provide a boost to our data-driven work, working closely with our data scientists and front-end experts. Through your work, you will assist teams across the GLA to develop high-quality policies, strategies, projects and programmes, ensuring that delivery is underpinned by a strong evidence base. Organised, you will demonstrate a flair for problem solving and also for creating reusable tools to help others. You will play a key role in our data pipelines to support the increasing number of data services that the GLA provides to its partners. This role requires a flexible and collaborative approach, working across teams within the GLA and GLA Group, and with senior internal stakeholders on multiple initiatives.
