Principal Backend Engineer (PHP)

Berlin (Remote)

EUR80,000 to EUR110,000 + Training Budget + Benefits

Perfect opportunity to join leading SaaS start-up in Germany focused on improving customer journeys and experiences and focus on backend architecture.

This well-established start-up is already partnered with top global brand like Google and Trivago to help them satisfy customer needs through using their tools and analytics.

In this role you will work in a cross-functional team and focus specifically on backend architecture. There is a lead within this team but you would report directly to the CTO and work closely with them on the direction of the codebase.

The ideal candidate will be experienced on the frontend using PHP 7/8 and frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel. You will also be very strong in discussing and designing backend architecture as you will be central to decisions on the codebase.

This is a fantastic opportunity to stay hands-on rather than focusing on people management so you can continue progression without the need to step into people management.

The Role:

*Work closely with CTO on backend architecture.

*Develop new user facing backend features.

*Evaluate new technologies that may improve the codebase.

*Break down large technical projects into small sections so team members can execute them.

The Person:

*Great experience using PHP 7/8 and modern frontend frameworks (Symfony/Laravel).

*Excellent understanding of SQL databases.

*Experience and desire to work on backend architecture.

*Fluent in English, German is a plus.
