Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: LeedsSalary: Competitive. The salary available for this role will depend entirely on the individuals experience and skills.Job type: Full Time - Permanent. 37 hrs per wk - Mon-Thurs 8.30 - 4.30pm, Fri 8.30 - 4.00pm (Flex Fri pm scheme).Oilgear UK is part of the international Oilgear group producing High Pressure Hydraulic equipment and systems in the UK with facilities located strategically around the globe. Oilgear have been producing electronic control systems for over 40 years within a business that was created in 1921, we are celebrating 100 years in business.About the Role:Due to our continued growth Oilgear Leeds is currently recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding team, assisting the company as they move into new market areas, whilst also supporting the existing customer base.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about engineering. The site is conveniently situated approximately 1 mile from the centre of Leeds with easy transport links to both the city centre and the motorway.The salary available for this role will depend entirely on the individuals experience and skills.Key Duties:Design & development of products, manifolds and unit assembly both existing & new, through to launch and through lifeProvide technical design assistance to engineering team, sales team and our customersPreparing reports to demonstrate technical progress on projectsBOM creationResearch & development to create design prototypesResolve product development issues through creative testing and re-engineeringPerform necessary technical calculations and testing to ensure functionalityPerson Specification:Technical/Job Specific -A degree qualification or equivalent in mechanical engineeringExperience in hydraulic unit and mechanical design, preferably in heavy industryExperience in similar roleProficient and fully conversant in SolidworksExperience in Epicor, Jobshop, MS Project an advantageExperience and knowledge of FEA & CRD (or similar) would be an advantageCore Skills:Attention to detail and good communication skills are essential to this roleExcellent organisational & problem-solving skillsPersonal Qualities:The company operates within a dynamic and fast paced environment; to thrive in this role you will need to be friendly, approachable, flexible, highly organised and have excellent communication skillsYou will be someone that is driven when it comes to learning new skillsA 'can do' attitude with strong personal accountability and a team working ethic for timely completion of tasksWhen applying you should provide a covering letter detailing your salary expectations and availability to commence work.Candidates with the experience or relevant job titles of; Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Mechanical Design Engineer, Project Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, SolidWorks Engineer will also be considered for this role.
