This company is a leading Substation design and maintenance firm focusing on large scale Power Generation projects across the United States. In this role the Licensed Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of large-scale Commissioning Projects. The successful candidate will ensure each project meets the projects requirements including quality, schedule and budget. They will work closely on-site alongside the Owners, Architects and Subcontractors. Working within agreed budgets and time frames, the candidate will be expected to maintain a disciplined tracking and reporting regime using recognised project management techniques and tools. The Mechanical and Electrical teams will all report to the Project Manager.

The ideal candidate will be a self-performer and have a high-level understanding of commercial, legal, technical and construction activities required to successfully deliver high value Power Distribution projects. They must be willing to travel from site to site across New York State.

The Role:Prepares or verifies and approve engineering design for HV (115 kV and above) and/or MV electric power substations, for both green and brown field projects.Prepares design basis memorandum, engineering notes, project scope/requirements and specifications for procurement and installation for equipment and works.Ensures conformity and completeness of electrical engineering packages to be issued for construction against project requirements and specifications.Provides engineering support during construction, respond to requests for information, solve site queries, and attend site meetings or inspections.

The Person:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.Minimum 4 years' experience with proven track records in substation design, preferably for electric utilities.P.E. licensed (or eligible for registration) preferred.Extensive knowledge of North American standards and industry practices required.Experience with GIS design and electric utilities preferred.Use of ASPEN or good understanding of protection and control systems is an asset.
