To manage a portfolio of complex and major projects across the organisation and ensure customer focused and cost effective project delivery.Client DetailsThe IT & Telecoms team support in excess of 1,000 computers and 2,000 users across 25 sites, 7 days a week. The IT Operations team design, implement and manage all the IT services on the organisations network. The IT Operations team design, implement and maintain a number of networks including private networks.The Architecture and Project delivery team is expected to manage the large and complex projects, from inception to completion and handover to the operational team. They compromise a mixture of project managers, and technical delivery engineers.DescriptionThe post-holder will be expected to make day-to-day decisions without referral but will refer policy, strategic or non-routine issues to the Head of IT&T or Head of IT Operations.Projects ranging in value from £50,000 to £800,000 with implementation periods of between 3 and 24 months. The post-holder will be responsible for the accurate forecasting and reporting on all projects, with sufficient information to feed into the IT&T Business plan and wider organisation management forums.To manage members of the project team as required, and ensure individuals are undertaking their duties effectively; that they reach performance standards, and that development needs are identified and addressed.Working in close liaison with the Project Managers, to oversee works and drive the performance of the in-house IT Operations Project Team, and contractors, to ensure that works are completed on time, within budget and to the required specification and quality standards.To be responsible for the end-to-end project and programme management of a portfolio of complex and major project work, varying in scope and scale. This will include the full project lifecycle.To liaise closely with IT colleagues to ensure projects are appropriately co-ordinated with other works and the wider organisational projects and operations, minimising disruption ensuring best use of resources and that work is carried out to the highest possible standards.To use project programming software as a management tool.To maintain project management methodology including adherence to the organisations governance and procurement rules, document templates and filing systems.Provide succinct monthly reporting on progress, risks, issues and dependencies across all projects to the IT&T Management, and to the individual Project Boards where they existWorking in conjunction with the CISO, to ensure that all relevant compliance and cyber requirements are met; that associated policies and procedures (internal and external) are known and adhered to; to ensure that corrective measures are taken when necessary to address any issues of non-compliance.To ensure project related activities are procured in the most cost-effective manner in order to achieve excellent value for money.To ensure all financial, tender and contract management procedures comply with Procurement Rules, and that financial authorisations fall within delegations.To ensure good records management practices are adhered to (to include tender documents, project documentation, and design documents).To ensure all IT systems and databases are utilised correctly and kept up-to-date including accurate records, knowledge bases and retention schedules.To pro-actively manage stakeholder relationships and communicate regularly to internal and external stakeholders (including the client and all those affected by the project) on the progress and impact of works in order to minimise disruption.To liaise closely with customers to ensure the service provided meets their needs and expectations and that the highest levels of customer service are delivered.ProfileEducated to degree level with substantial experience as a Project Manager, coupled with a depth of technical knowledge and gained within an environment of high-profile risk.A strong leader and people manager, able to manage the performance and career development of team members, whilst embedding a positive culture of engagement, recognition and high performance.First-rate project/programme management skills.
