Description
We are a global company with a mission to advance the art and technology of visual experience. We know that creating an inclusive environment that values and encourages different perspectives is critical for our success, and the success of our people. We are learning, listening and taking action to be better and foster trust in our community. Our goal is to ensure every person working at Foundry feels safe and free to be themselves, to share their ideas or concerns and that there is equal access to opportunities for all.
The Product.
Mari and Katana are a single operational unit that develops state of the art Look Development and Lighting tools for artists to create awe-inspiring textures and lighting.
KATANA®'shighly efficient, collaborative approach to lighting and look development gives you the creative scope and scalability to meet the needs of today's most demanding CG-rendering projects.
Equally suited to both short and long-form animation and VFX projects, KATANA's unique design lets you work with massive scenes and high volumes of shots; easily reuse looks; and make revisions without repeating scene setup work, so you can spend more time achieving higher quality results.
MARI® is 3D painting without limits, combining the power and performance to handle even the most complex assets with artist-friendly 3D paint tools that make the most of your creativity.
The Role.
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead two of our SCRUM teams. You'll be responsible for the technical output - and quality - of your teams of no more than 8, by line managing them to work as a unit combining development and testing. To do this you'll have some management experience, alongside good SDLC knowledge including Agile/SCRUM, using these skills to lead phasing/estimating work for your team. You'll interact with customers in areas of team expertise to understand and solve/mitigate any issues that arise as well as owning go/no go decisions for releases affecting your team.
The planning that informs these decisions will use your technical skills and experience to align the team around workable solutions, working with Senior Engineers to ensure the proposed solutions are checked, validated and documented effectively. You'll line manage the team, ensuring their career development and managing performance where relevant. As the person responsible for their delivery, you'll liaise with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure that tech debt is flagged and resolved, and that prioritisation and allocation of the team is in line with priorities and expectations. You'll ensure the teams are happy, motivated, and productive, taking responsibility for hiring decisions in conjunction with the Engineering Manager to ensure team fit, as well as resolving conflict / disagreement where it occurs.
