Job Title: Designer Specialist - Mobile Backhaul SBH & IP

Location: London/Birmingham/Bristol/Manchester

Duration: 3 months

Rate: Up to £400 per day based on relevant experience

This role will be deemed inside IR35

Mobile Backhaul is part of the Mobile and Analytics directorate within Technology and is responsible for design, planning and deployment of all Mobile solutions on the clients commercial network and the Emergency Services Network, including backhaul transmission and IP transport within the Radio Access Networks. Design, planning and deployment activities for Mobile Backhaul are delivered through shared (MBNL) programmes into our shared network environment and through Technology Mobile programmes for unilateral network requirements.

The Mobile Backhaul design team is responsible for all solutions for backhaul transmission, IP transport and security in the Radio Access Networks, delivering traffic in a secure fashion from the cell sites to the core network sites and for remote hosting purposes between core network sites

This role has a significant impact on delivering the Mobile Backhaul roadmap and the subsequent solutions and process to support the network delivery and lifecycle

Technical: Excellent knowledge of Satellite based telecommunications, DVB-S2, ACM, A-TDMA, MF-TDMA, protocol optimisation and accelerationKnowledge of 5G, LTE, LTE-A, and other 3GPP architectures and the relevant transport requirements to support themExperience in mobile/fixed /satellite telecommunications industry in the role of a designer with business-critical, high-availability systems and networksExperience of managing relationships with suppliers and third-parties, of product/feature selection and of delivering those products into a production environment

Specialism in several of the following:Satellite products and services in the UK marketSatellite link budget, availability and capacity .Network SynchronisationOSS, Network Management and DCNIP technologies TCP, UDP, SCTP, IPSec and PKIRouting and LAN switching, routing protocols OSPF, IS-IS, eBGP, iBGPIPv4 and IPv6 addressingIP/MPLS technologies, RSVP and LDP, IPVPNsQoS mechanismsNetwork SecurityDesigning highly resilient packet networks

General:Practical experience in delivering backhaul solutions for the support of rapid network rollout and capacity enablementGood communication skills with the ability to broker agreement across teams and presenting & communicating highly technical information to both technical & non-technical personnelKnowledge of industry best practice methodologies for analysing, defining and documenting the link between input business requirements and output technical solutionsUnderstanding of project management techniques and tools3+ years' experience in a Mobile Backhaul design role with a proven track record of delivery best in class solutionPractical experience of topology planning, designing microwave links, path profiling, Ethernet leased line configurations, concessions process, etc. would be an advantageSpecific experience of delivering backhaul solutions into the shared MBNL network or other multi-MNO shared network environmentDegree or equivalent qualification
