Do you have experience of leading a multi-channel creative and digital delivery function, or similar, ideally within an agency and/or in-house team? Then join Shelter as Head of Delivery and you could soon be taking responsibility for the delivery planning, resourcing and production of our digital and our creative work.

About Shelter

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

About the team

We have a shared agile delivery function for our Digital and Creative departments. This reflects the reality that nearly all projects at Shelter are multi-channel, with digital and creative elements. Accordingly, they require capacity within both teams, across a range of disciplines, from design and UX, to content development, web development and print production. Your challenge will be to head up this delivery team.

About the role

As Head of Delivery, we'll look to you to oversee the new delivery function and define and embed its ways of working. You'll lead a team of four delivery managers and a print production controller and be responsible for the efficient delivery of work to agreed priorities and timelines across the various teams. Working closely with Creative Leads and Digital Product Managers to make sure we're using available capacity in the most efficient and transparent way will be key, as will measuring demand on the teams against capacity. Crucially, you'll be a role model for others and develop the tools and techniques it takes to raise skill levels within the delivery team and beyond. Put simply, from planning, to coaching, to delivery, you'll do everything you can to ensure our Creative and Digital teams produce work of the highest quality, and in an integrated manner.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you

Having previously worked in a senior delivery role in a cross-functional creative and digital environment, you have a good understanding of a range of methods and approaches to delivery and production and how to choose the right one. You can speak to technology teams, you can speak to creative teams and stakeholders using accessible language to build a common understanding. You're also great at building, leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams and committed to continuous improvement, transparency and learning. Building strong relationships and influencing at all levels from senior leadership to stakeholders and team members comes naturally to you too, plus you're not afraid to challenge ideas in a positive way. What's more, you're adept at applying lean methods and optimising delivery processes for flow and efficiency, while your track record in planning and managing resources and budgets speaks for itself.

Benefits

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme. Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We are here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
