Job Title: Sustainability Consultant: Environment specialist

Location:  London - remote working

Salary: £30K + DOE

Job type: Full time, permanent

We are a small Sustainability Consultancy which has grown from one freelancer to a small team and a growing number of international clients across a range of sectors.  With companies increasingly looking to the E of their ESG activities and improving their monitoring and reporting of environmental issues, Morelli Consulting requires an environmental accounting specialist to complement the team's client work. You will be the go-to-person for our work with clients in environmental sustainability, particularly in carbon management.

Our ethos is to roll-up-our-sleeves and help clients implement change and manage the detail, particularly around non-financial data management.  This includes designing new data processes, procedures and templates, delivering training and one-to-one support particularly on technical accounting, and interpreting the data to help organisations understand their environmental performance.

You will be comfortable in dealing with detail and you take responsibility for the accuracy of your work and delivering against commitments.

As a member of a small team, you will have a pivotal role in helping to shape our portfolio of client work and contribute to the consultancy's overall growth.

The Role

As a specialist in environmental management, accounting and reporting, you will contribute to the team's work with our clients on the environmental aspects of engagements.

You will work alongside other team members to manage client relationships from start to end using excellent project management and communication skills.  You will use your experience of carbon accounting to deliver GHG inventories; from managing data collection, utilising different software platforms for data management, monitoring progress against targets and reporting performance for regulatory and wider reporting reasons.

You will have good knowledge of the technical aspects of carbon accounting from different sectors and are very comfortable with a range of standards, methodologies and frameworks including The GHG Protocol, science-based targets, the TCFD, SECR and CDP, amongst others.

The successful candidate will have experience of other environmental issues such as water, packaging, waste and the circular economy, biodiversity and wider natural capital accounting.

Job responsibilities:

Proven experience to complete tasks such as:

Leading and coordinating client engagements.

Being the environmental subject matter expert in our team and with our clients.

Advising clients, and implementing projects, to calculate footprints and develop reduction strategies.

Managing environmental data for clients including GHG inventories.

The candidate:

A degree in an environmental or sciences topic or relative experience.

Experience as an environmental or sustainability consultant or in-house practitioner.

Experience in designing and implementing carbon measurement tools and reduction initiatives.

Strong communication and relationship management skills.

Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Experience of sustainability-related reporting frameworks, standards and protocols.

Eagerness to contribute to a range of general client activities and team collaboration during a period of growth for the consultancy including winning work.
