Are you interested in working for a world top 100 university?

We have an exciting opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre for someone with a passion for cyber security in manufacturing who is looking to use their skills to make an impact on UK productivity.

As a Manufacturing Cyber Security Engineer in The Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG), you will work as part of a wider cyber security team within the AMRC, assisting with research into cyber security technologies and methodologies within the Operational Technology (OT) space for advanced manufacturing. You will be required to use both a theoretical and hands-on approach to solve complex engineering challenges.

Involvement in the Factory 2050 Integrated Manufacturing project is a fantastic opportunity to influence the way products are being manufactured and to develop innovative solutions to industrial problems in the UK. You will deal directly with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world. Some of these companies include Airbus, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems, GE, GKN and Bombardier.

For this role, you will need cyber security experience working in a practical environment and should also have a good degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience). You should also have excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively organise project resources. It is key that you are able to work well within a project team made up of internal colleagues and external customers.

You will have:

A good honours degree in cyber security or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Good knowledge of computer networking

Experience working with Unix operating systems

Experience with cyber security architectures, forensic analysis methods or related technologies.

The Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG) is part of the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), which is a cluster of world-class centres for research into advanced manufacturing technologies used in the aerospace, automotive, power generation and other high-value manufacturing sectors. The cluster has a global reputation for helping companies overcome manufacturing problems and has become a model for collaborative research involving universities, academics and industry, worldwide.

The Integrated Manufacturing Group has expanded over the last seven years and is growing further to meet demand from new cyber security-oriented projects. As part of the AMRC's IMG group you will deliver ground-breaking digital research within the Factory 2050 facility and will have hands-on experience with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world.

We're one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University's Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
