Senior Frontend Engineer, Lean Library (£55,000 - £65,000)
Lean Library are hiring for a Frontend Engineer to build the next generation of academic library services.
Lean Library, a SAGE Publishing company, was founded by librarians for librarians. Our mission is to help redefine, enable and amplify the power of the academic library in order to advance student learning and researcher impact.
Our core solution is a browser extension which streamlines access to academic resources and content at the point of need. Over 100 libraries use this solution from universities all over the world including Harvard, NTU and Cambridge. Over the next few years, we aim to pioneer a new approach to library services, bringing the library directly into patron's workflows to accelerate learning and research.

The Role:
Hands on development
Building, refactoring and scaling our product line
Building high-quality code for reusability
Using modern technologies to write web apps and browser extensions
Influencing frontend technology choices and best practice
Potential move into a team lead when team grows
Involvement in growing and managing future team
Collaborating with a team of developers, product owners, UX/UI designer
Remote or office (UK/Netherlands) or mixed
Skills required:
JavaScript - ES6+
HTML5/CSS 3 - building for W3C Accessibility
Babel trans-compiler
Webpack
React or Vue.js
Git version control - know how to merge, rebase, fix conflicts etc...
TDD - using testing framework(s) such as Jest, Ava, Mocha
Know how to integrate REST APIs
Clean Code principles
Ability to convey an idea, explain a problem, and discuss solutions
AWS/Azure (Bonus)
Docker experience (Bonus)
GraphQL(Bonus)
Experience and knowledge required:
5+ years commercial development experience
Worked within a development team with code reviews
Built web applications for accessibility
Built bespoke HTML/CSS from designs
Integrated APIs with authentication
This role will report into Andy Hails, Head of Technology, Lean Library.
