We are seeking an outstanding leader for this high-profile role at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

At DEFRA we deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly affect people's lives. We are the UK Government department responsible for safeguarding our natural environment, supporting our world-leading food and farming industry, and sustaining a thriving rural economy. This role will be critically important to achieving our vision of ‘creating a great place for living'.

As CDIO you must have the ability and credibility to engage and lead people as well as position the organisation in the cross-government technology agenda playing a full role across the Defra group. You'll be a role model and a relentless champion of government as a place where everyone can thrive and where diversity can flourish; a place that reflects the public we serve.

As CDIO of Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS) you will be leading a team of circa 1000 staff located around the country, with a total budget of c.£177m per annum. The potential to shape our society's future is enormous and our purpose is to ensure the profession is equipped and inspired to deliver real, meaningful change for users; to do the work of transformation that makes government work better for everyone.
