The information security group is a business services function. The group is responsible for the firm's information, cyber and privacy security controls that are designed to protect data.

Qualifications - External

Role Summary/Purpose of Job

This role sits within the threat unit focusing on insider threat management and internal investigations including:

inappropriate behavior;

data theft detection;

leaver monitoring; and

policy breach.

The unit has two clear objectives:

1) standardise good user behavior across all Freshfields' offices; and

2) identify, investigate and escalate behaviors that could cause embarrassment or damage to the firm, its clients or suppliers.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

This role will be responsible for:

Internal investigations including escalation to employee relations;

End user engagement (for specific policy breaches);

Managing insider threat detection technology

Enforcing processes;

Supporting behavior steering groups;

Producing operational reports;

Making improvement recommendations; and

Ensuring privacy is maintained.

The investigator will be expected own, improve and manage all policies and processes associated with the responsibilities.

Some project work is expected as technologies are introduced, evolve, decommissioned and / or processes are streamlined to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

There will be some operational (not HR) line management responsibility junior security investigators.

There may be occasions when the investigator will be required to assist other teams including personal data breaches or hacks.

The role requires regular senior business engagement. Building and sustaining strong business relationships to influence their approach and promote good behaviors across the firm.

The investigator will be expected to keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and employee relations issues. Using this knowledge, they will be expected to advise, guide and direct HR and the business where necessary and ensure firm policies and processes are appropriate.

Previous experience of working in a partnership (advantage);

IT system investigations (critical);

Partner facing experience (useful); and

Experience of threat analytics.
