Data Warehousing (Inmon) and Data Marts (Kimball) for Business Intelligence and Analytics
Conceptual, Logical and Physical Modelling for business system development (across the society)
The Data Designer (Modeller) role supports business system development and our growing Data, Analytics and Reporting team based in our busy IT function. As a Data Designer (Modeller) you'll be responsible for:
Actively engaging with IT delivery teams from requirements gathering, through to Data Modelling for Business System, Enterprise Data Warehouse (Inmon) and Data Marts (Kimball)
Design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects using industry best practice and in alignment to the Society's technical reference architecture
Defining data models that meet the intended outcome of a project, programme or other engagement, ensuring alignment to the Data and Insight strategy and conforming to policies, standards, patterns and general good practice
Provide expert knowledge and experience to design data models for the support of long-term and strategic solutions for the Society
Run and/or participate in governance forums related to data models, including those requiring physical database change
Play an active and proactive role in moving forward the Society's capability maturity level
Keep up to date in own specialist area, or agreed new areas of self-development, and act in capacity of 'resident expert', taking opportunities to spread knowledge to other members of the team in a structured way when opportunities arise About You This role presents a great opportunity for an experienced Data Modeller to play a formative role in the enhancement of the Society's Data Modelling capability during a time of significant investment and growth. You will have,
Experience in a commercial environment producing data models at a conceptual, logical and physical level within the following subject areas:
o Data warehouse reference architectures and design using Inmon and Kimbal methodologies
o Relational database design
Broad technical skills including;
Knowledge of leading data technologies, data storage solutions, data warehousing, data science and IT infrastructure design
Inmon and Kimball data modelling techniques
Integration technologies
Security architectures
Systems analysis and design
Full systems lifecycle
Good understanding of IT architecture modelling tools and languages such as Archimate, UML and BPMN
Proven ability to explain complex concepts in a non-technical way
Proven record of working with business stakeholders and communicating complex problems in a business context
