Our IT world is changing.
Be at the heart of the transformation.
Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we're responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. As an IT Service Owner, you'll join us at an incredibly exciting time as we develop our infrastructure and services, paving the way for future modernisation. If you want to build and shape IT from the ground up, this is your opportunity.
We're currently in the process of separating our IT systems and developing our own infrastructure and services. We're now working with our own suppliers who'll be providing third party solutions and services. As the IT Service Owner, you'll be responsible for these relationships and for ensuring they deliver an excellent IT service. In short, we're building the foundations for tomorrow's IT - and you'll be right at the heart of the challenge.
In this broad and varied role, you'll report to the CIO. Every day, you'll lead the transformation of IT Service Management across ONR, developing and embedding best practice IT services and governance. The key is to integrate third party providers into your operations, creating a superb virtual team. You'll lead your ONR staff and these suppliers to operate our IT estate effectively, drive continuous improvement and exceed SLAs.
It's not just a case of connecting with third party providers - you'll also need to engage stakeholders across ONR. As changes happen, you must keep your contacts informed, explaining issues and developments, maximising business benefits whilst ensuring business impact is minimised and managed effectively.
At this level, you must be an experienced senior IT Service Owner, who's worked in a highly regulated organisation before. With this background, you'll know how to manage a complex mix of third parties and internal contacts, as well as IT services. Your excellent people skills will help you build relationships with a wide range of contacts and inspire your team. And, with your in-depth knowledge and understanding of technology, infrastructure and IT services, you'll understand ONR's legacy systems, strategic Cloud solutions and the possible paths and opportunities formodernisation.
Thanks to ITIL v3 Practitioner and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification (or similar/equivalent professional experience), you'll have the credentials to back up your expertise. Now you're ready to put your skills to work, delivering exceptional IT services that will support our organisation at every level.
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary in the range of £64,969-£74,915. Furthermore, you'll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you'll receive a generous holiday entitlement.
ONR is a Public Corporation with a Mission to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they're involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
