Role The System Solution Architect is responsible for:
* Working with the Solution Design Authority to develop and refine technological roadmap and High Level Design (HLD).
* Working with the users to understand their requirements and identify any constraints that may impact on the solution.
* Determining the interoperability, dependencies, and interactions with other IS, both national and international, ensuring they are maintained through the transition.
* Working with other Solution Architects to ensure that the design is coherent across the solution and compliant with applicable standards and policies.
* Leading the impacting of any changes, ensuring the architecture and design remain coherent and changes are agreed with both internal and external customers.
* Working with stakeholders and the Solutions Team to develop, architect, and document technical patterns for common problems.
* Working with the Solution Engineers to ensure that the design intent is being realised.
* Reviewing and approving Low and Detailed Level Design (LLD and DLD) solutions and supporting artefacts. Technical Experience:

* A broad systems engineering experience and a detailed understand of solution architectures with at demonstrable experience of architecting and designing solutions.
* Significant experience in eliciting, elaborating, and analysing requirements.
* Excellent communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences.
* Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Solution design of secure hardware and software solutions, demonstrating successful delivery on complex, large scale programmes utilising emerging technologies where possible.
* Conducting rational product selections against complex requirements, specifically measuring performance, cost and time.
* Successfully running a large development team, ensuring delivery timescales are met.
* In-depth experience of:
o VMware's product suite including; - vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) - vSAN - SRM - NSX - Horizon - vRealize suite
o UPS and their management systems o Role Based Access Systems
o Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 core operating systems at expert level.
* Experience in the design and delivery of:
o Public and Private cloud architectures utilising Software Defined Datacentre (SDDC) techniques.
o Virtualisation technologies such as VMware ESXi 6.5, vCentre 6.5, vSAN 6.5, Site Recovery Manager 8.1 and Horizon 7.4. Other Experience:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programmes and technology projects.
* Competent in MS Office Suite.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
* Successfully running a large development team, ensuring delivery timescales are met.
* Ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programmes and technology projects.
* Hold a current SC clearance and be prepared to undergo DV clearance. Desirable: * Experience of:
o Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS).
o Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.
o Delivering in Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall projects.
o Working with national and international partners, including NATO, to deliver national and multinational interoperability.
* Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence and Bamboo) to record, document and test work.
* ITIL foundation knowledge (change management etc)
*Networking certification, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), VMware Network Virtualisation (NSX-DC) or similar
