Network Architect (WAN Strategy & Implementation): The organisation through the Information Technology department, has a requirement for a Network Architect (the "Consultant"). The Consultant is required to create and deliver the organisation's Network WAN (Wide Area Network) Strategy and Technology roadmap. The Consultant will be responsible for defining the requirements and user stories to enable development of a WAN Strategy. Once defined and approved the consultant will work with the organisations teams to design, procure and deliver the organisations new WAN network.Objective The Consultant will lead in the creation of the organisations WAN Strategy, continuing to design and implement the strategic solution. To achieve this the Consultant will: Work to understand the current position of the organisations's WAN implementation, its strengths and weaknesses;Work with stakeholders such as Technical Operations, Architecture, Project Managers and Service Delivery;Ensure that network requirements and user stories are effectively prioritised, delivered and productionised;Work across different domains, including security, networks, and service management, to establish an operating model;Use market knowledge to propose the right solutions for the organisation;Work with technology partners to share knowledge, deliver and implement. Scope of Services Work with the organisations Principal Infrastructure Architect and stakeholders to plan, create and seek approval of the Network WAN Strategy;Documentation of requirement definition and user stories;Contribute in procurement activities including RFP writing, partner selection and technical evaluation;Represent the organisation interests as technical lead for project stages working with Technical Operations team and Project Management;Participate in workshops, providing quality assurance;Understand the organisations As-Is WAN Infrastructure and how it is integrated with other technologies;Work with the organisations Procurement team to understand the commercial drivers and assess change impact;Oversee and assure the work of in-house and external design and delivery resources;Challenge delivery partner(s) proposals where necessary to protect the organisations interests and needs;Act as the key technical point of contact for partners and engage with internal teams to ensure all interests are taken into account. Implementation Arrangements The Consultant shall liaise closely with the core project team, with direction provided by the organisations's Principal Architect. The role will work closely with 3rd parties, project management, solution architects, developers, product team, subject matter experts, and others based in London and nearshore. The organisation shall not seek to exercise any direction, control, or supervision over the Consultant's working methods in the provision of services. Within the scope of services, the Consultant shall complete their work in adherence to relevant organisations policies, process and standards. Activities and Deliverables Requirements, Strategy, design, policy and decision papers;Programme requirements and rationalisation;Architect governance and oversight of project deliverables;Participate in public procurement activities;Assessments and review of partner's technical artefacts;Target operating model in conjunction with stakeholders;Promote knowledge sharing and cross-training within the teams and rest of the IT department;Undertake any other work as specified by Senior IT management;Work within the organisations governance and frameworks.Experience EssentialExperienced and currently practising Network Solution Architecture.Experience in the creation of Strategy and Executive level document artefacts.Technical vendor relationship and management.Qualifications/Certifications in - Cisco and/or CheckPoint. DesirableInvolvement in SD-WAN programmes of work.Working in multi-country, multi-cultural, organisations.Experience in contributing to resource plans. Personal TraitsVery strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to prioritise and work on tight timescales.Attention to detail.Agility to work as part of a team or on isolated tasks.Ability to lead or challenge with the backing of technical authority.Continues to adapt and evolve with market knowledge and trends.Is able to work productively at home.
