Digital Enterprise Design Lead

Would you like to help shape the Digitally Enabled Enterprise that will create, support and operate the Future Combat Air System being created by BAE Systems in collaboration with UK and international partners? We currently have a vacancy for a Digital Enterprise Design Lead at our site in Warton.

As a Digital Enterprise Design Lead, you will be helping shape how the programme understands and exploits digital business approaches, methods and technologies to create world-leading capabilities in Design, Manufacture and Support operations.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of defining the future of the Combat Air Programme with MOD and international partners. You will be defining the future of Air Sector business; bringing innovation, challenging digital technology approaches to the business.

The successful candidate will draw upon their experience in a senior technology innovation or enterprise architecture role in a digital business in a related industry or as a consultant working in the same capacity.

Your main responsibilities as a Digital Enterprise Design Lead will involve:

Creating strategies and directing the design, demonstration and delivery of the digital and informational enabled business model of the programme, to the agreed level of maturity, including but not limited to

Ensuring that and sufficient design and demonstration of digital capabilities are performed in order to demonstrate the feasibility and capability of Air in digital approaches, services and business models

Agreeing objectives and requirements for the agreed digital and informational elements of the programme

Adopting and adapting appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, and ensures they are applied effectively

Undertaking impact analysis of large or complex systems. Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks

Reviewing others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology

Identifying information and communication systems that support the critical business processes and manages the relationship with specialists with authority for those systems. Evaluates the critical risks associated with systems operation and identifies priority areas for improvement

Managing user experience evaluation of systems, products or services, to assure that the usability and accessibility requirements have been met, required practice has been followed, and systems in use continue to meet organisational and user needs

Working iteratively with design teams to ensure that the results of evaluations are understood and acted upon

Monitoring the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies. Assesses and documents the impacts, threats and opportunities to the organisation. Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others

Assisting the business in defining their systems requirements and advise on matters affecting technical standards, and information

Your skills and qualifications:

Experience of working in an IT Function or consultancy, with particularly experience in a digital business, designing digital business models and services

Business Transformation skills and experience

A good level of experience in the delivery of key projects in a couple if not all of the Solution Definition Design and Delivery skill set

Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience e.g. HNC / Prince 2 Foundation / Computer Science Degree

High level of commercial awareness and budget management capability

Understands the needs of the functions and projects, to contribute to direct continuous service improvement and ensure that full leverage is made of the IT services
