The University of Hertfordshire is looking to augment its Apple support team to unlock the potential of the platform, both for staff usage and student and teaching environments. Working as part of a small team of friendly technical staff within the central desktop administration team, you will work closely with the schools and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to fit their requirements. This will involve development of deployment and management systems, requirements gathering, documentation and knowledge sharing for first line support teams.

Main duties & responsibilities

Development, deployment and maintenance of central device management systems

Gathering requirements from schools for teaching devices and images

Monitor and manage the effectiveness and reliability of the environments, taking prompt and appropriate action to resolve faults and problems to maintain services

Application package creation and maintenance

Standard administration tasks (device patching, OS installs etc.)

Create documentation and guides for both internal consumption and to guide 1st line support teams

Skills and experience needed

Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to prioritise work and resources appropriately

Experience of configuring and maintaining a Jamf environment

Experience of configuring and maintaining a Munki environment

Experience of higher education needs and requirements

Experience with Active Directory, AD/ Mac integration

Experience with VPP and Apple Schools

Xcode and command line tools

Qualifications required

Graduate or equivalent experience

Qualification in computing at professional level or equivalent expertise and experience
