We are now seeking graduate cyber security engineers to join us for our 2020 intake.You will be making and breaking today's technology, and using this knowledge to design and build the next generation of secure systems. Depending on your interests and career path, you might be conducting Cyber Vulnerability Investigations to identify risks on vehicles, communication systems or critical national infrastructure, assuring cryptographic systems, building active cyber defence platforms, conducting specialist research or application security reviews, or creating bespoke software and systems for our clients.What do we expect from you?Working within the Cyber and Networks there's no one single set of criteria as different skills apply differently to the different themes of work we do. Ideally we would like you to have a good honours degree in a related subject, however we're also interested in you being able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you have developed and apply them in novel ways, regardless of your academic background.Wherever your interests in Information Security lie, you will need to:Work well with others;Communicate clearly and effectively;Be interested in making, breaking or securing systems and software;Be inquisitive about the how and why systems are created as they are;A desire to analyse, understand and improve the security properties of systems and software;Take pride in producing high quality answers to hard problems.Most of our Cyber and Networks roles involve creating software at some point, so you should be familiar with at least one programming language, and able to write clear, correct code in that language.What additional skills may be useful?Knowledge or interest in some of the following:Other programming languages and paradigms (e.g. C, C++, Rust, Erlang, Python, Haskell, Java);Operating system or networking internals; for example kernel programming or network protocols;Other Operating Systems (e.g. Linux, Mac, BSD) or Real-Time Operating Systems;Systems, Software and Security engineering;Software testing;DevOps toolchains;Reverse engineering (e.g. using IDA / Binary Ninja) and assembly language (x86_64 or ARM);Threat and vulnerability detection;Network security;Computer forensics;Application security practices, including penetration testing techniques;Simulation and red-teaming;Cyber-physical systems and safety. SecurityDue to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC.
