Job Type: Full Time, Permanent includes working a Saturday and 4 days in the week 8am to 4pm

The Company is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005.
Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities have been built in the Stanlow area. They specialise in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.
Role Overview:
Responsible for the analysis of raw materials and blended materials at Stanlow and their Oil Terminal. Will also be required to undertake the analysis of the finished product produced at the plant, and on occasion in process testing in accordance with BSI EN 14214.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Ensure all equipment is kept in good condition and stored correctly
Prepare all laboratory reagents as required across both Stanlow Phase 1,2 and Oil Terminal
Prepare and package laboratory samples to be shipped off site for external analysis
Participate in general laboratory housekeeping and waste disposal
Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
Maintain sufficient lab reagent stock and consumable levels and notify senior laboratory technician or manager as and when orders are required
Ensure all in-process, swales, boilers and cooling towers samples are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures
Ensure all finished goods leaving Stanlow and Oil Terminal are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures
Ensure all raw materials delivered to Stanlow and Oil Terminal are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures

Make yourself aware of all Emergency procedures and Responses
The Candidate:
An HND qualification (or equivalent) in a science discipline is advantageous
Multi-tasking and time management
Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment is essential
Attention to detail with the ability to apply scientific and technical expertise
Self-motivated with a clear passion for quality control and the ability to learn and develop
Awareness of laboratory H&S needs - risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH
Intrinsic problem solving skills and the ability to interpret and present analytical results using statistical methods
Knowledge of raw materials and biodiesel would be beneficial
COSHH Management System training would be beneficial to have knowledge of chemicals used in testing
